Via ferrata: trends and role of manufacturers

Those protecting climbing paths are very expensives (between 5 000 to 10 000 pounds) as to built them as to keep maintenance. V.F. are a possible tourist financial resources for town administration. Sometimes V.F. are private properties with a toll.

Some V.F. are built with full rock contact, others with artificial contact. This building way is a polemical chat for ferratists.

Well, as many ferratists use wire rope as an aid, this one had been plastic covered. Well, we are far from the basic rule with rock contact.

Actually last V.F. use few metal : small rugs, and others supports. Like this is more difficult climbing.
An example : in France, near Chambéry, V.F. grotte à Carret was built with small supports and its grade is E (english scale).

V.F. is one of the sport where there is no competition : everybody realize his own feat without following safety rules. It would be interesting to up the level as E grade (English scale) for strongest French ferratists.
