Via ferrata: Safety and gear
Safety in case of fall In case of fall on V.F. it is not like falling as a rock climber with a long safety rope.
Here is : the safety rope is only a y-strap ,
less 1 yard, with carabiners which slide on wire rope to stop violently upon the fixed rock attachment point (F.R.A.P.) or at the buckle
wire bottom. On verticals segments, the highest height ( about 3.5 yards) would make a exceptionnel impact to the body and gear.
- special auto-locking carabiners , with an engraved K letter for V.F. ratification. They are not so expensive as those of climbing rock and are very strongs.

This safety path must be change after one fall because it can’t be used twice.
